Born in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Xavier Vignon styles himself as a terroir hunter and has consulted for over 250 wineries in the Rhône Valley. His own range of wines are created by blending tiny parcels of vines and this unoaked blend of old-vine Grenache, Mourvèdre and Syrah allows for expression of site and fruity purity. Not a typical Côtes-du-Rhône, the deceptively light nose of brambly black and blue berries leads to a serious palate of deep cassis and black cherry, with well honed tannins and spicy pepper notes.
