A fine showing from the St-Chinian cooperative, with bags of character and typicity. While it's smoky and toasty, it's also lifted and full of red cherry fruit, squashed raspberries and a balsamic lift. There are deeper tones on the palate, chocolate and mocha, struck stones, and a long tobacco-laced, high-acid finish. Good stuff.
