An approachable and open style that's ready to drink but could also benefit from a year or two more in bottle. The aromas are toasty, there's some real torrefaction here, grilled bread. Yet the fruit is all upfront red cherries and raspberry. Although there are richer notes of dark chocolate underneath, this is altogether a fairly lean and tense La Clape red with notes of pine and raspberry leaf, that I think makes it a success.
