Deep and brooding, this blend of 50/50 old Carignan and Syrah is graceful, a wine of real sophistication. Layers of raspberry and ripe plum unfold slowly, revealing impressive concentration without too much weight. It's matured for a year in sandstone eggs. The balance is fantastic: there is power here, but also a sense of poise and what can only be described as a lightness of being. Elegant, assured and beautifully composed.
