Deeply coloured and intensely aromatic, with notes of cocoa powder, dark chocolate and roasted coffee layered over dense black fruit. There is a smoky, almost petrol-like nuance that adds intrigue, while subtle oak contributes richness and structure. Mourvèdre, Syrah and Grenache, from clay-limestone soils at 300m. Full-bodied and powerful, with the freshness of altitude, this is a wine for hearty dishes and slow evenings. Dramatic and worthy of contemplation. The drama will no doubt continue to unfold over the next five to 10 years.
