Lovely floral aromas on the nose, violet scented with wild thyme in the background. Known locally as the 'King' of the Languedoc with holdings in many prestigious crus, Gérard Bertrand's La Viala is a wonderfully powerful and authentic wine a smooth and supple texture and ripe and concentrated fruit flavous. It has touches of blueberry and pomegranate with morello cherries and a mineral creaminess that runs through the middle. This feels strong but elegant and refined. Offered ready to drink but this will certainly reward ageing.
