The vines are 40 years old and the grapes are picked by hand. A part is vinified using carbonic maceration and the rest using classic red wine fermentation techniques. The 2019 Canaille is a wonderfully delicious spicy Gamay with lovely soft, round berry fruit and very light tannins. It is sufficiently soft to enjoy as an aperitif as well as with charcuterie, salads and summer picnics. The 2019 will keep for two or three years but is so delicious that it will be very difficult to resist finishing supplies much earlier.
