The lieu-dit of Les Coutones is wholly owned by the Chotard family. A steep, south-facing slope lends a natural ripeness to this wine, but freshness is retained by the clay in the soils – hence the boots pictured on the label. There's gorgeous minerality on the nose, allied with a citrusy freshness. Vinified and matured in large oak casks, it has a silky texture and lovely concentration. A super-stylish wine, with savoury minerality and grip. A brilliant combination of ripeness and tension with a persistent finish.
