Domaine Claude Lafond, now run by his daughter Nathalie, has since the early 2000s been producing wine from the three hectares attached to the Château de Valençay – once the home of the famous diplomat Prince Talleyrand. This is a blend of 50% Pinot Noir, 30% Côt (Malbec) and 20% Gamay. The deeply coloured, youthful 2020 has attractive black fruit notes and slightly smoky aromas. Needs time, as at present the tannins are a little harsh on the finish.
