Discreet red fruit aromas, followed by a seductive, mouth-filling palate backed up by acidity, which is typical of the 2021 vintage, giving freshness in the finish. The soft tannins are well handled. It is lighter than previous vintages, reflecting the 2021 vintage, although it may take on more weight with time in bottle. The vines are planted on a mix of clay-limestone and flinty clay slopes and the grapes were picked on 10 October. The wine was aged in large wooden vats for a year and bottled in February 2023. The domaine’s wines have a remarkable ability to age for decades. The domaine, which is based in Ingrandes-de-Touraine, dates from 1869 and now has 47ha of vines, which have been certified organic since 2021. It is run by the fifth generation – Philippe and Stéphanie and their partners.
