Although his vines are within the Muscadet appellation, Marc Pesnot of Domaine de la Sénèchalière doesn't label his wines as such, but I see no reason not to include his superb Miss Terre cuvée here, when it offers such a scintillating, textured, powerful expression of Melon grown on schiste. Aromatically restrained, it is a study in how texture and structure can be the most captivating part of a wine. There's an underlying honey and cream richness, but it's the stony, mineral intensity that stands out. Tense and firm with a clean, succulent finish. Low sulphur, indigenous yeasts, unfined.
