Rich aromas of honey and vanilla, followed by a concentrated mouth-filling texture, medium length with some tightness on the finish at present. Vignoble Alain Robert, based in the commune of Chançay in the northeastern part of the Vouvray appellation, was founded in 1973 by Alain and Christiane Robert. In 2000 they were joined by their son Cyril and then in 2013 by daughter Catherine, who had worked for 10 years for Jacky Blot of Domaine de la Taille aux Loups. The domaine is now run by Cyril and Catherine and has grown to 37ha, with vines planted on clay limestone and flinty soils. Ammonite, the name of the cuvée, is a marine fossil. The grapes are picked by hand, then fermented and aged in a mix of 228- and 400-litre barrels for 12 months.
