In 2014 Catherine Médard and Cyril Robert took over the running of the 37 hectare family estate Domaine Alain Robert, which is based in the commune of Chançay, to the northeast of the town of Vouvray. The Vouvray Sec Ammonite comes from 50 year-old vines planted on flinty clay. The grapes are picked by hand in two passages and fermented in barrels of 228 and 400 litres, where they are matured for a year. The 2019 has attractive apple and pear aromas, is richly textured with a touch of wood and a fine balance of acidity on the finish. This has the potential to age well.
