Crimson red in colour. The aromas are of cedar, incense, spice, hints of garrigue, sweet and slightly smoky oak, and hints of mulberry. On the palate the sweet oak gives texture and a firm structural backbone. Soft, supple, juicy ripe black and red fruit comes to the fore on the palate, and it’s floral and slightly leafy. There’s a Syrah-led inky minerality. Powdery black cocoa tannins on an intense, sweetly juicy, crunchy finish. The firm acidity at first seems reticent to take the stage but is beckoned on by the very elegant tannins. Quite a big, serious wine with plenty of southern fruit, a silky texture, and a well-balanced structure.
