This is the first vintage that Château de l’Escarelle has put its premium rosé into barrel, and the rich intensity of fruit admirably balances the weight and structure of the oak. Delicate peach and plum aromas with some sweet oak too. Oak continues on the palate with dark toasty nuttiness and hints of vanilla balanced by sweet, ripe, honeyed melon and juicy pears. The fruit is rich, lush and opulent supporting the tight oak structure well, with long fresh white lemon acidity. Still very youthful with the flavours jostling for position, this is a serious wine with ageing potential.
