Dried mint and thyme on the nose with baked plum and prune accents - smells herbal and wild with touches of garrigue. Clean and tongue scraping, the fruit quickly makes way for quite tight tannins, almost rustic and severe, which gives this some tension and tightness on the mid palate, and makes the spiced edges stand out a little more. Has density and a generous texture - the structure is impressive - with enjoyable herbal freshness and minty finish. The initial fruit is plush and juicy, but the frame takes over a little at this point so it's worth keeping hold of and opening in a few years knowing that Bandol reds can age particularly well.
