Aged in barriques which gave more evident oak character of cloves, nutmeg, cinnamon and sweet spice on the nose. On the palate it is going through the moody adolescent stage typical of Bandol after the first flush of youth, with the structural tannins and red fruit of Grenache more evident. A saline, black tea austerity leads on to some mouth coating tannins with fresh acidity lifting the structure. Riper, softer fruit from the plain was added to lift the austerity and this is just beginning to show with some sweet ripe fruit peeping through.
