Lirac

Medium

Plastic/Synthetic

White

This Lirac estate was acquired by Châteauneuf estate Château de la Gardine in 1998; its excellence in white winemaking can be seen across multiple appellations. It also displays the huge potential of this appellation when it comes to whites. Confidentielle is the top white Lirac, made from 100% old-vine Clairette, all handpicked, then fermented in small and medium-sized oak barrels. It’s an excellent example of what this variety can do in the right hands. Matt Walls: Grapefruit pith, fennel. Rounded but not heavy, with a glossy, smooth texture. Real grip and phenolic ripeness, but needs time to open up. Very deep and vinous. Heather Dougherty: Anise and preserved lemon, with some oxidative breadth and a touch of oak spice. Creamy almond paste finish. Full of character, with just a whiff of garrigue. Alexandre Freguin: Fruity, pleasant aromatic profile. Rich, good support from the oak, great texture. Brilliant, oaky finish with some anise/ fennel, lifted by top-quality phenolics.
