This is a relatively outlying style of Hermitage. On the nose it has yellow flowers and honey, on the palate it's soft, rich, ripe and succulent. There's a touch of controlled oxidation running through, which brings early complexity, but might compromise ageing potential. Long finish, with marzipan, vanilla pod and brioche. The acidity is low, which has the effect of accentuating its ripe-pear sweetness. It almost feels like a 'natural' Hermitage. Very long, interesting and charming, but not a classic Hermitage in terms of power and structure. From very old vines in lieu-dit Les Rocoules.
