Nice sense of purity on the nose, with a touch of smoke to the blackberry fruit. Medium- to full-bodied, really quite ripe and generous. Plenty of acidity, the alcohol is a touch raised but this has plenty of impact. Stéphane’s father, Michel, planted these vines on granite slopes 500m south of Côte-Rôtie in the 1980s. 15% of the bunches are fermented whole, followed by 12 months ageing in oak barrels of which 5% is new.
