Frederic Laplace was one of the driving forces behind Madiran gaining AOP status in 1948. Chateau d'Aydie remains one of the top producers with 49ha predominantly planted on clay-limestone soils. A fine Madiran with smoky, scented notes on the nose of violet and rose petal. 100% Tannat, deep and dark, with masses of dark berry and damson fruit on the palate. Aged in barrel for just over a year with firm, supple tannins for long-ageing, this is drinking well now.
