This unfiltered, gold-medal winning Saperavi comes from just a single hectare of vines, planted at 540m and cultivated with minimum intervention, close to the village of Badiauri in Kakheti. It’s a saturated red-black in colour and is dense, meaty and reduced when first poured, though the aromas clear after a while and the woodland plum fruits grow fresher. On the palate the wine is dense, deep and pure-fruited. The plum fruits have a sweet cast to them and there’s ample tannic support without excessive acidity, with a stylish, perfumed finish.
