This wine, from the mid-sized Khareba, was a silver-medal winner in the Saperavi International competition. The fruit is sourced from Kakheti, and despite four years ageing it remains a dark black-red in colour. The aromas are earthy, beefy and stewy, built on a core of dark black fruits but with chocolate and mint complexities. The palate, too, remains deep, dark, saturated, powerful and searching, indeed almost show-stopping. It's very 'elemental', without much harmony as yet but with a huge repertoire of allusions and with density, force, length and drive. Try giving this up to five more years ageing.
