This silver-medal winning qvevri-fermented wine comes from a small Kakhetian winery which also won a gold medal in the 2018 International Qvevri Wine Competition. It’s a very deep, saturated black purple-red in colour. Sweet, warm, fresh and enticing aromas of black cherry, blackcurrant, damson, sloe and blackberry lift from the wine with wonderful purity, lent extra charm by a little snipped privet-bush freshness. The same explosion of fruit is there on the palate, once again with an innate sweet freshness to it, not driven by oak in any way, only by the inner ripeness of the berries. There are soft but plentiful tannins, and even the acidity is almost sweet here, clinging and fine. An outstanding wine.
