At the Schlumberger-Bernhart winery in the Markgräflerland region, Burgundian varieties take centre stage. This is also the case with the Klosterwingerte. At present, the wine still displays a distinct, slightly smoky reduction, reminiscent of popcorn. Behind this, however, one can detect ripe, clean fruit (apple, melon), which is likely to come to the fore more strongly as the wine matures. On the palate, the wine has good structure; it comes across as modern and self-assured, without appearing ponderous. Not all the facets have fully come together yet, but the wine has plenty of backbone to ensure a promising future.
