The nose already speaks of sun-warmed herbs and chalkiness. This site sits on an exposed reef of porous limestone and rises steeply. It is in prime position to catch every ray of sunshine, so 2018 must have been challenging. Yet the Knoll family mangaged to bring balance to this undoubtedly powerful Silvaner. The palate is concentrated, insistent almost, with its hayflower herbal richness. It delivers real power but also real freshness. In a way it is a beast that needs time in bottle to calm down, but it is the textural richness that makes this stand out.
