Christian Stahl’s father Albrecht started growing grapes in the 1980s. Taking over in 2000, Christian focused on wine and expanded the business from 1.5ha to currently 45ha of vineyards near the Tauber, Main and Steigerwald rivers, including about 10ha of Silvaner. Wine isn’t Christian’s only venture – an accomplished chef, he also runs a one-star Michelin restaurant on-site. You can sense his passion for flavours in his Silvaner, which has a pure yet penetrating and concentrated expression. Caro Maurer MW: Ripe yellow fruit infused with fresh herbs. No overt signs of oak, good palate definition with a distinctive saltiness to the fruit. No fat, only muscle. Impressively long. Ambitious. Svetoslav Manolev MS: Aromas of ripe apple, melon and pink grapefruit. Palate is dry and fresh with good concentration and a long finish. Marcel Orford-Williams: Silvaner has become unfashionable, losing out to Pinot Gris in places such as Alsace, but this has super fruit.
