Franz Wehrheim has introduced a very modern, international and ambitious style for his Pinot Noir. The wine from the ‘Im Sonnenschein’ vineyard, with its limestone-rich soils, provides the ideal foundation for this. At present, however, it is still distinctly influenced by the oak. Behind this lie dried flowers, raspberry drops and pink pepper, accompanied by malty and spicy notes. On the palate, it still feels very compact, with fine-grained tannins. A very concentrated Pinot Noir which perhaps lacks the maturity at present to allow all its aromatic facets to unfold more fully.
