The nose is a little shy but subtle smokiness tells of judicious oak. Perhaps the vineyard name, i.e. 'cherry orchard' is an omen because the fruit is reminiscent of ripe, red cherries captured at a moment of juicy, crunchy freshness. The marly, loam-covered soils sit on solid limestone, so this is a German iteration of that happy limestone-Pinot marriage that works so well. The palate has finesse and grace, subtlety and elegance.
