Located next to Nyulászó, Royal Tokaji’s Szt. Tamás parcels are rich in red clay and volcanic rocks, sloping southwest. The 2019 is more vinous in character compared with its single-vineyard peers, with candied tangerine peel, boiled stone fruit, dried camomile, acacia honey and even raisin on the nose. Wonderful creamy purity on the palate, lifted by vibrant ginger purée and bright acidity (7.39g/L). Camomile, zesty citrus and dried yellow fruit unpack on the mid-palate, leading to more dried apricot and a tangy freshness on the long finish. As with the estate’s other single-vineyard releases, the 2019 Szt. Tamás was fermented and aged in Hungarian oak (30% new).
