This Riserva from the very good 2016 vintage is the best wine from Tecce this year, and one of the best from Taurasi. Even better, it's also slightly cheaper than the estate's Poliphemo Riserva bottling. The winemaking doesn't differ from the other Riserva, with 36 months of ageing in both large oak vessels and tonneaux then 24 months in bottle before release. Still crimson in colour due to the great phenolic concentration of this 100% Aglianico, the wine is focused on tobacco, prunes, truffle and leather, with plenty of balsamic character. The palate features elegant, velvety tannins and crisp, lively acidity. The finish is stunning, with earthy tobacco and blood orange saturating the grainy, youthful tannins without any dryness.
