This biodynamic Verdicchio from a single vineyard lying 350 metres above sea level in Castelli di Jesi displays a textbook straw colour with greenish hues, and airs a tantalising mix of white pepper, flint and lemongrass against a richer background of sweet almonds, quince and acacia honey. At once viscous and taut, piercing acids and firm salinity cut through layers of mellow orchard fruits, while a gentle touch of vanillin softens the contours, leading to a long, flinty and subtly nutty finish. Longer ageing will enhance the tertiary complexity, allowing it to match mushrooms and truffles wonderfully.
