Vigna Fracia is Nino Negri's historic vineyard, a cool site below a glacier at the end of the warm Valtellina valley. 100% Nebbiolo (Chiavennasca locally) grown on blue schist, it's initially austere but begins to reveal some succulent and fragrant red berries, potpourri and stewed red fruits. Intense and concentrated but with balsamic freshness, this is salty, elegant and cool in character, with very fine, silky and grippy tannins and flashes of barrel on the long finish. Great balance.
