Recta Pete – from the Latin for 'shot straight' – pays homage both to the Scottish family heritage as former arrow makers and to Fletcher vision of how Barbaresco should be. This was the first that Fletcher launched in 2009, and it remains significant as a wine that challenged the notion that a great Barbaresco must come from a single vineyard. It is a blend of Cru Faset (40%), Ca’ Grossa (30%), Serragrilli (20%) and Ronchi (10%). Secondary aromas emerge first: lifted yet slightly macerated, with chocolate-coated cherries, orange-Campari, a dash of nutmeg, and a hint of a few-days-old rose petals. On the palate, the wine is framed by refreshing acidity that supports a sense of energy, while multi-layered tannins contribute density and structure. A compelling introduction to Barbaresco that won’t break the bank.
