One of the Langhe’s true treasures, Luigi Baudana’s Cerretta vineyards boast a mix of meticulously preserved Nebbiolo biotypes planted in the 1970s. Their complexities are brilliantly teased out in this 2022: anise, dusty brick and tar infuse cherry liqueur, with pomegranate and dried lavender contributing on the palate. It demonstrates vigour and tension with elegance, tactile and grainy tannins, and acid that is pleasantly tart. Pulverised stone speckles the finish. A thrilling rollercoaster, yet still tightly corseted throughout.
