Proprietor and winemaker Alan Manley insists that this is NOT a baby Barolo. And it isn’t – instead, it is a pretty serious Langhe Nebbiolo staying true to its aim of drinkability. A gorgeous nose offers discreet strawberry blossom and unmistakable rose with brushwood and orange. Weightless yet with substance, juicy red cherry flavours seems to levitate. The acidity is steely but integrated rather than sharp. Stony minerals penetrate and the tannins are crisp. I’d gladly welcome this as my house wine, although it is priced – not without merit – just a bit beyond that.
