Lying on the border between La Morra and Castiglione Falletto, Gattera is the estate's warmest vineyard and its oldest, planted 70 years ago. It's the southeast portion that is used solely for this bottling, giving a fresh, herby character on the nose accompanied by cherry and blackberry fruits and a hint of exotic spice. In the mouth it has good concentration, with a core of bramble fruits and a dash of raspberry jam wrapped in fine, grippy tannins. Its a generous, velvety wine with great balance and lovely freshness. There's a stony line on the long finish, with some black cherry and gentle spice.
