Aged for more than 15 years in a single 20hl oak barrel, number 018, this represents the second release in a bold, pioneering series that explores the singular character of individual casks by Cantine Pellegrino. Sourced from the inland vineyards of Marsala, it's a blend of Grillo (50%), Catarratto (25%), and Inzolia (25%), resulting in an evocative and harmonious expression. No018 conjures the mood of an underground billiard room, with all-leather lounges and quiet conversation: unfolding notes of caramel, salted almonds and macadamia are accompanied by undertones of tobacco and accented by notes of blood orange, lemon peel, sea spray and olive water. Sip it slowly – perhaps with candied almonds or aged cheese, or as an unexpected companion to carbonara.
