In the 2017 vintage the season was warm and less rainy than usual (with annual rainfall below 400mm, according to the winery). This resulted in the need, in some vineyards, to perform a green harvest in order to balance the crop load with water availability - not necessarily bad for a sweet wine. The Zibibbo grape here offers a clean nose with apricot juice and marmalade aromas. It's full of concentration on the palate, with an oily texture, sweet date notes on the finish and a balancing, slightly aggressive acidity. This 2017 lacks the iodine minerality typical of its best vintages.
