Frank Cornelissen is one of the great personalities of Etna. His wines are sometimes controversial, but almost always engaging. For example, while the Munjebel 2018 is quite rustic due to a cool vintage, the warmer 2017 Vigne Alte shines for its bright pale-ruby colour, its intense and slightly volatile aromas of peony and red cassis, its savoury character pushed in length by a zesty acidity, and the firm, chewy tannins and mineral finish.
