Famed for its single-vineyard wines and commitment to old-vine Nerello Mascalese, Pietradolce also makes some very fine Carricante from its vineyard holdings on Etna's northern slopes – and they are planting more. This comes from the vineyards at 700m-800m around the winery in Solicchiata combined with fruit from Feudo di Mezzo in Castiglione di Sicilia. It is vinified entirely in stainless steel and offers up discreet verbena, citrus and basil notes on the nose, which segues into a zingy, crisp and elegant palate that shivers with lemony acidity.
