Tasca d’Almerita is one of the big names in Sicilian wine, and Nozze d'Oro, which translates as ‘Golden Anniversary’, celebrates both the marriage of the Count to his wife and two contrasting yet complementary varieties. The Sauvignon Blanc is from an old, cool, northwest-facing vineyard that dates to the end of the First World War, while the Inzolia comes from 500m altitude to preserve clarity and freshness. The result is deliciously unexpected: a wine with body, but coming in at only 13%, with gorgeous notes of verbena and lemon balm, and an exotic undercurrent of peachiness and green olive on the palate. Long, firm and immaculately balanced.
