In the northwestern zone of San Casciano in Val di Pesa, Carus Vini was established in the mid-1990s under the guidance of Giacomo Tachis. The Carissimo family purchased the property in 2011, and as of 2017 all 13.5ha are certified organically farmed. Earth, smoke and blackcurrant aromas appear from under grilled wood notes. The tannins are quite polished, but this is a little hollow under a sweet oak sheen, and finishes abruptly.
