Gran Selezione

Director Stefano Peruzzi describes 2018 as a warmer, more arid year than 2019 and likens the wines to the concentrated, structured 2015s. The Gran Selezione comes from the estate’s warmest site in Radda on stony Galestro soil. It articulates both vintage and site with its ripe, dark berry flavours, robust tannins and heady alcohol. It also wears its new tonneaux ageing on its sleeve. Nutmeg, toast and coffee steal the spotlight before making way for sun-baked earth.  At the core, it pops with limpid blackcurrant and cherry, underscored by concentrated, linear acidity. The finish is a touch drying, and heat lingers.
