One of two annata produced at the estate, Vicchiomaggio’s San Jacopo bottling comes from vineyards sitting on heavy clay-based soil between 255 and 265 metres above sea level. To preserve Sangiovese’s fresh fruitiness, it undergoes short ageing in large French oak casks of 25 to 50hL. Slightly confected pressed floral and cherry skin notes make way for darker nuances of tar and leather. Medium in weight, this 2020 features soft, integrated tannins, bright acidity and lingering refreshment.
