Gran Selezione

One of three Gran Selezione in the Fontodi stable, Pastrolo hails from the cool heights of Lamole. Vinified in amphora then aged in 600-litre barrels, it rings out with purity and intricate details. Hints of sunbaked clay, dried white blossom, lavender and mint swirl around the raspberry core. Unexpectedly dense, this is equally surprising in its nimble gracefulness, and freshness pulsates. The tannins are silky and smooth yet authoritatively grippy. Effortlessly breezy but not easygoing. Fewer than 2,000 bottles made.
