Selected from two plots planted in the 1980s, Susanna Grassi’s Riserva demonstrates clarity and serenity in equal measure. Intense perfumes of pepper, mint and pressed rose play off the raspberry backdrop. Light on its feet yet full of flavour, it lands nimbly at midweight. Violet and rosehip tea are carried by the steady flow of quenching acid, and spicy oregano gives a snap. Silky tannins cinch with grainy support. This is a wine to sit back with and simply revel in its beauty.
