Gran Selezione

While Le Fonti's annata and Riserva see a dollop of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, the Gran Selezione is made exclusively from Sangiovese. It comes from one of Le Fonti's six parcels that's particularly low yielding, and is matured in French tonneaux of which 30% are new. 

The oak is very much in evidence here, with upfront aromas of cinnamon, clove and mocha. The palate offers plenty of concentration and is rather chewy, thick with broad tannins, yet it finishes abruptly.
