While not tired, it lacks some precision and is tenuous in fruit and frame. Notes of stewed cherry, leather and cocoa rally, and short, dry tannins emerge on the finish. Vintages up to and including this spent just 12 months in barriques, with a further six months of ageing in large Slavonian oak casks. Lamberto Frescobaldi describes the summer of 2000 as brutally hot, yet this vintage of Luce is the opposite of brash or flashy.
