Heat and alcohol on the nose, some clear vanilla, caramel, cedar and sweet red cherry notes. Thick and full, quite a bold, upfront style, tight and tense, so much oak seems to be present in the tannic structure and doesn't really work with the quite ripe fruit and high alcohol. Feels a little clunky with not much fruity, juiciness supporting the quite massive frame but there is a sense of direction that keeps it straight. It's a little lacking in energy after the initial burst, so maybe this just needs more time to harmonise, and fully meld.
